Asante hospitals receive five-star quality rating from Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services

Asante hospitals awarded highest quality rating from CMS.

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services recently announced its 2024 Overall Hospital Quality Star Ratings, and Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center and Asante Three Rivers Medical Center again have earned five stars — the highest rating awarded. Only five of Oregon’s 63 evaluated hospitals achieved a five-star rating this year. Asante represents the only hospitals in Southern Oregon to receive this recognition. Asante Rogue Regional and Asante Three Rivers have received the top rating six times since the overall quality ratings began in 2018.

“This is a testament to the dedication and hard work of our employees, physicians and advanced practice providers and tireless compassion in caring for our community,” said Brandon Mencini, CEO of Asante Rogue Regional and Asante Ashland. “I am so proud to work alongside this fantastic group of caregivers and grateful for our commitment to excellence.”

For its hospital ratings, CMS examines more than 100 measures under several categories: mortality, safety of care, readmissions, patient experience, and timely and effective care. Nationally, just 13.4% of the 4,658 eligible Medicare-certified U.S. hospitals can claim this status. Asante Ashland Community Hospital did not receive a rating this year. Hospitals that do not have adequate data to provide are not rated, which is common for hospitals with lower patient volume and Critical Access Hospitals.

“This outstanding achievement demonstrates our commitment to providing health care to the individuals in our community,” said Patrick Sharp, Asante Three Rivers CEO. “This accomplishment is the result of the outstanding work and devotion of the people that work at Asante Three Rivers. I am proud of the staff, physicians and advanced practice providers that made this possible, and I am grateful they have chosen Asante as a place to share their gifts and talents in the care they provide.”
